Haxby Road News 7.2.20

A message from the Co-Heads of School…

We would like to thank all our staff and volunteers from the community for helping with the big move for Tiny Steps, Nursery, Reception and Miss Starr’s class. Their new learning environments look amazing! We would also like to thank our children for settling in so quickly and continuing with their learning. Our final thanks go out to our parents – thank you for ensuring that your children are dropped off and picked up in the right areas of school and that despite the recent changes they have all been arriving in school on time looking smart in their school uniform and ready for learning.

We would also like to welcome Miss Swan to our teaching team. She is teaching Year 3 whilst Mrs Gordon-Wylie is on maternity leave. The year 3 children have settled in well and have been learning about the Blitz and creating newspaper reports based on their class novel “Friend or Foe.” To support their learning further, they have also visited the Army Museum in York.

Active Citizens – Year 5

Some active citizens from Micklegate, our Year 5 class, have been working together to help improve the school environment. Maks, Logan, Alisha Dunnington and Ebony, equipped themselves with professional litter grabbers, gloves and a bin bag, and went round the school’s grounds and collected litter. A huge thank you goes out to these superb team of Litter Pickers – they really made a difference. The children involved felt really positive and proud that their actions had contributed to helping others recognise that dropping litter is not Ok!
