A message from the Head of School…

The first half term has flown by and I can hardly believe that we are already in week 8 of the new academic year. It has been a busy but successful beginning to the new school year.

After half term, we will be saying ‘hello’ to Deborah Meiklejohn, who will be covering Mrs Taskers maternity leave. She will be working alongside Mrs Tasker after half term and building relationships with all of our families.

A quick reminder that Parent’s consultation week starts on Monday 11th November. We will be sending out letters the first week back for you to book your appointment time with your child’s class teacher.

We would like to wish all of our families a very happy half term. We hope your holiday is filled with fun and treats.

Attendance Matters

Good attendance is crucial. Children who regularly attend school make better progress both academically and socially and find school routines, school work and making friends easier to achieve. The target for each class is 97%. This is in line with National Expectations. Some classes have made an impressive start to the year with 2 classes already achieving our attendance target.

At the end of the school year, the class with the highest attendance will go on a trip of their choice. We know that children in our Early Year’s classes often get poorly at the start of the year. Next term Nessgate and Micklegate will need to work harder to reach the minimum attendance target of 96%. We know you can do it!

Tiny Steps 92.14%
Nursery 89.81%
Fishergate (rec) 95.08%
Ousegate (rec) 95.82%
Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate (1/2) 95.15%
Nessgate (1/2) 94.87%
Gillygate (Y3) 98.55%
Fossgate (Y4) 97.29%
Micklegate (Y5) 94.99%
Stonegate (Y6) 96.47%

Reminder

Please can you ensure that school uniform is all NAMED – particularly the red jumpers, cardigans and coats.

As you can imagine, with over 250 pupils, rehoming jumpers with no name in is an impossible task and we are gathering quite a collection around school.

Many thanks, The School Office
