Haxby Road News 24.1.2020

A message from the Co-Heads of School…

Congratulations to Miss Woodward and Mr Robinson with their new bundle of joy! We would like to welcome Eva Betsy Robinson, weighing 7.7lbs, born on 18th January at 4:41am.

Our children were given the opportunity to become space explorers and visit a mobile  Planetarium! Kevin Read, who has a degree in astro-physics and planetary science, led a session with each class and brought space to life! The children were amazed by the different constellations of stars, a video of Apollo 11 and were given the chance to ask Kevin any question they liked.

Windsor Palace will be calling…

Monday 27th January

KS1 & KS2 will be having an interactive video call from the Royal Garter Throne Room in Buckingham Palace. The children will get to learn some interesting facts about the Castle and will find out lots of information about the Queen. They will be given the opportunity to ask their own questions about the castle and Queen answered by Royal Expert, “Martin Whitaker” from Buckingham Palace. This learning opportunity will allow our children to develop their work on British Values and Citizenship skills.

Dress Up Day – Wednesday 12th February 2020

Historical and Influential Figure from the 20th Century

To support our curriculum topic work on “A Moment In Time” the children will be given the opportunity to dress up as a historical and influential person of the past. The children will be carrying out some research to help them decide who they would like to dress up as. Children will be thinking about famous leaders, explorers, scientists, entertainers, activists and sports stars.

A suggested donation of 50p will help to support planned curriculum activities for the weeks ahead.

Thank you and have fun!
