Haxby Road News 17.1.20

A message from the Co-Heads of School…

It has been another busy week at Haxby Road Primary, the children have continued to work hard and show a positive attitude towards their learning. Mrs Winter would like to thank the children and parents for making her feel so welcome.

The Early Year’s children made their very own Stickman cookies. They followed a tricky recipe to create and decorate them independently using a range of skills! Later, they wrote their own recipes so Miss Wilkinson and Mrs Gilmour could make them at home too!

Congratulations to our school choir who had an incredible time at the Young Voices 2020 Concert. This was an amazing experience for all the children involved, they will never forget that they sang alongside Tony Hadley, The Shires and Ruti. With 5031 children singing passionately and sharing their love for music, this made the atmosphere within the arena electrifying!

Bag2School

Bag2School is a free fundraising scheme, which was established in 1999, for anyone wanting to raise funds using a resource EVERYONE has got in their wardrobe – unwanted clothes. They work in partnership with Schools, Businesses, Community Groups, Local Councils and Charities to help them raise funds from your donations.

Friends Of Haxby Road will be collecting donations for Bag2School each morning, beginning 27th-31st January on the school gate at morning drop-off. Please fill your Bag2School bags with any unwanted clothing and other textiles.

Thank you

Polite Reminder

Please can I remind all parents not to bring dogs onto the school grounds when dropping off or picking up children. The Education Authority has recommended strongly to schools that dogs are only allowed on school premises or with pupils, staff or members of the public as a registered service dog – e.g. a Guide dog.

As a school we have taken this advice seriously and ask that you leave your dog at the end of the school lane.

Thank you.

Year 6 become Active Citizens

Well done year 6 for volunteering to improve the school grounds!

Lock and Store Safely!

It’s great to see how many children ride their bikes to school –a super way to keep fit and be ready for learning!

Please remember to lock up and store your child’s bike neatly and carefully.
